The company offers Network and Payment aggregation and integration services to its clients, accompanied by access to a substantial amount of data requiring meticulous management and analysis. Positioned at the forefront of Fibre Network provisioning and management, including tasks like generating billing reports and facilitating payments, the organization operates on the largest privately owned Fibre Network in South Africa. The nature of their work is recognized for its high technical complexity and challenging aspects.

The Role 

The organization is currently searching for an experienced Data Specialist to assume a leadership role within the data team, overseeing all aspects of data management. The ideal candidate possesses robust analytical skills, team management experience, and excellent communication abilities for effective collaboration between technical and business teams. Essential qualifications include a proven track record of running and completing projects and a comprehensive understanding of data technologies offered by cloud providers. The role entails defining an overarching data strategy, implementing data governance policies, and fostering collaboration with different departments to optimize data utilization efficiently.

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
• 7 years of experience in the technical field, with experience in data management, with a focus on data analysis, modelling, and governance.
• Experience in developing data strategies and implementing data governance policies.
• Strong understanding of data architectures, data modelling and database design principles.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Experience in managing a technical team and developing their skills.
• Experience with data visualization tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business teams.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, Python and R.
